Two precincts in the Kosciusko County Council Election District surrounding Leesburg were transferred to the district surrounding North Webster in an amendment county commissioners approved this morning.
The amendment divides Clay Township in half due to the size of District 2. Council District 1 now includes Tippecanoe and Turkey Creek townships as well as Washington Township precincts 1 and 2 and Plain Township precincts 1 and 4.
Council District 2 now includes Etna, Harrison, Prairie, Scott, Van Buren and Jefferson townships, as well as Plain Township precincts 2, 3, 6 and 7. District 3 includes all Wayne Township territory within Warsaw and Winona Lake, and territory within Wayne precincts 1, 3, 4 and 10 and Plain Township Precinct 5.
District 4 includes Clay, Franklin, Jackson, Lake, Monroe and Seward townships, and territory within Wayne Township precincts 2 and 5 through 9, and Washington Township Precinct 3.
Eventually, District 3, including Warsaw and Winona Lake, may have to be changed, commissioners heard.
They later approved the transfer of two properties acquired by tax sale to the towns of Sidney and Claypool. The Sidney property is at 110 N. Main St. and the Claypool property is at 411 S. Graceland Ave.
Commissioners also approved the $88,168 purchase of an excavator from Southeastern Equipment Co. Inc. in Fort Wayne, at the request of Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden.
Tilden later opened bids from about 30 vendors for 2013 highway supplies and materials, ranging from asphalt and limestone to diesel fuel and bridge planking. He will review the bids and present recommendations Nov. 19.
