Kosciusko County Commissioners appointed four representatives to the board of directors for the newly formed Lakeland Regional Sewer District Tuesday.
The sewer district will include property south of Armstrong Road and CR 500N; west of Ind. 13; north of South Barbee Road; east of CR 650E; north of McKenna Road and CR 400N; and east of CR 457E. The district is located around lakes in the Barbee chain, including Kuhn, Big Barbee, Little Barbee, Irish, Sechrist, Sawmill, Banning and Shoe.Dave Doctor, North Webster, headed up the work to have the district established. In March, Indiana Department of Environmental Management Commissioner Thomas Easterly signed an order to create the sewer district.
The county council appointed Councilman Bob Sanders, along with Jim Haney and Stewart Lambert, both of Leesburg, to the LRSD board April 11.
At an April 1 meeting, Doctor suggested the commissioners appoint himself, Kosciusko County Health Department Administrator/Chief Environmental Scientist Bob Weaver, David Tyler, Leesburg; and Dan Lee, Warsaw; to the board. Tuesday, Doctor brought an amended list of recommended board members to the commissioners. The list included himself, Weaver, Commissioner Ron Truex and Lowell Gillmore, Warsaw.
The commissioners approved Doctor's recommendations.
Doctor said he will contact all the appointees of the seven-member board to schedule the first meeting.
