Commissioners

Editor, Times-Union:

I wanted to follow up on the recent editorial written by Terry Bartley.

The county commissioners have made poor decisions recently with the loss of federal stimulus money for the county and now closing CR 100E near the airport. The inconvenience to the "many" living in the area and concerns about slowed emergency response haven't been adequately weighed against the occasional needs of the "few", essentially the corporate jets.

Unfortunately, there is not a functioning two-party system in Kosciusko County. This leads to no accountability of those holding public office and a complete lack of checks and balances. Maybe it's time that voters hold elected officials responsible by not always pulling the straight-party Republican ticket lever in the voting booth. Kosciusko County voters might find it wise in the future to take the time to evaluate the other candidates on the ballot when a choice is offered. Otherwise you reap the seeds that you sow and the resulting unfortunate government actions that we have experienced.
