Commissioners

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

By now I'm sure most of the readers of the Times-Union know how upset the residents of the county are by the actions of the county commissioners. "Upset" is being nice. I don't like it when the actions of, or in this case the non-actions, of our elected officials put us and our families in harm's way.

It has been reported by different readers who care enough to write in that drifts were 4 to 5 feet high in some areas around the county, along with poor visibility making the trip home something more than inconvenient. It was down right dangerous and still nothing was done. If this storm would have hit us fast and without warning it may have been written off as just being winter, but, this was not the case.

I knew several days in advance that we were going to get hammered and I took precautions to be safe if I were to become stranded, just as many did. Our county commissioners put the lives of our family, neighbors and co-workers in "direct danger" by doing nothing and this should not ever be acceptable.

Their actions, of which I believe have been bought and paid for by companies not wanting to be inconvenienced, put the lives of many in danger so they could remain open. So with the elected officials planted firmly in their hip pocket, the order was never given.

We as the residents of Kosciusko County should demand the resignation of Bob Conley, Ron Truex and Brad Jackson immediately for neglect and incompetence. Not asking for their resignation is giving them the green light to do it again. It would say to them that it's OK to put my loved ones in danger as long as business owners and factories can continue to make money by remaining open. Expecting our elected officials to keep us safe is not political, it is responsible. It's time for them to step aside and let the adults make the decisions that they cannot.

If you support this movement, please send an e-mail to the editor for publication, that way they will have no excuses.

In closing, I would like to remove all doubts about the content of this letter. Kosciusko County Commissions, I want your resignation.
