Commissioners

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Sounds like Mr. Beall has told our county's decision makers what he wants and the commissioners are tripping all over themselves to make this happen.

The trick will be to get the job done, look like a concerned elected official and put the blame on another group to take the heat. Sounds like our own game of Big Brother starring Conley, Truex and Jackson. I would like to use the Times-Union to discuss this issue and sorta have them on record.

I would like to start with Mr. Truex. In Gary Gerard's article you said, "If the people we represent have issues with this, we'll stand behind them."

You either don't read the paper or you are the most uninformed person in the county. The people are asking for representation, they live in our county so do your job and help them. How many people have to reach out for help before you step up? Is there a number that will force you to help, or is it about saving your hide and staying in power? This would not sit well with Mr. Dane Miller but you did take an oath to serve the people, not the corporate agenda.

Mr. Jackson said it was "frustrating how misinformed people can be." I will take his word for this, I'm sure that he is an expert at having the wool pulled over his eyes concerning misinformation.

Missing from the meeting was Mr. Conley. I bet he had something very important to do and was not able to attend so no damage control was needed.

I must admit I will miss that when he is sent packing. My question to the commissioners is simple, if you are not in favor of closing the road why have you not gone public and shown your support to the county's residents?

Going public puts the light on the city's leaders who will have to close the road, putting them and the power they love at risk. The group on Facebook is serious about keeping the road open and anyone voting to close the road will be made famous, they won't keep their job but everyone will know the names. Help save the life of a young inexperienced driver by keeping them off a busy highway, help save the residents time and money by going out of the way to shop or work. Do right by the people who live in that area.

Helping the people would be a nice change, just not sure if any of the current commissioners are up to it. I will wait for your answers.
