WINONA LAKE - Do opposites attract?
For the couple in Winona Lake Community Theatre's production of "Barefoot in the Park," the answer may be a resounding "no."
According to show director Melissa Jordan, the play is a comedy about a couple who are total opposites but are trying to make their first year of marriage work. Corie Bratter, the wife, is irrational and immature. Paul Bratter, the husband, is very conservative. Will they live happily ever after? You'll have to see the play to find out.
"Barefoot in the Park" will be presented at the Hillside Ampitheatre, Winona Lake, Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 10 at 1 and 6:30 p.m. and Aug. 11 at 1 p.m.
Andrew Gilbert and Kim Keyes play the roles of Paul and Corie Bratter, respectively. Jason Dugger takes on the role of Harry Pepper, with Grace Willing as Ethel Banks, Tim Markward as Victor Velasco and Adam Turner as the deliveryman. Assistant director for the play is Courtney Polston.
Admission is $6 per person at the door or $5 in advance. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Blue Lion Coffee House or Winona Lake Pottery, both in The Village at Winona. In case of rain, tickets will be good for the following show. Approximately 550 seats are available.
All money raised will help pay for the show and fund the next community theater play. Auditions for any of the community theater plays are open to the public. If the theater receives enough support for "Barefoot in the Park," Jordan said, they will put on another play in the winter.
Jordan said, "All the community is invited and the only way we can keep producing theater is with the support of the community."
