KANKAKEE, IL -ÊThe Grace College men's soccer team turned around a 1-0 loss to St. Francis earlier in the week by defeating a strong Olivet Nazarene team 1-0 Saturday.

The game was a defensive battle as each team got just three shots. Ryan Rollefson scored the only goal of the game 24 minutes into the first half off of a corner kick.

Jon Hoover got his fourth shutout of the season with three saves.

Olivet Nazarene falls to 8-4 on the season. Grace (6-5, 1-2 MCC) will host Indiana Tech Thursday at 4 p.m.

Saturday in North Manchester

The Manchester Spartans broke a 1-1 tie in the 81st minute of play to get a 2-1 win over Bluffton College Saturday in North Manchester. Ahmed Zughayer scored at the 80:44 mark in the game. Manchester improved to 3-7, while Bluffton falls to 2-9.

Saturday in Marion

The Grace College men's tennis team got edged by Indiana Wesleyan 5-4 in the final MCC game of the season for the Lancers Saturday. Grace won two singles matches and two doubles matches but lost two other close matches. Jason Michael won at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-1 and combined with Ben Myers to win at No. 2 doubles 8-1. Grace will compete inthe MCC tournament beginning Thursday at Huntington.

Saturday in Marion

The Grace College men's cross country team continued to post impressive results this weekend, winning the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational Saturday by 31 points. Grace, Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan are all ranked in the top 17 of the NAIA poll representing the Mid-Central Conference, but the Lancers scored just 34 points in the meet. Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan tied for second with 65 each. The Lancers had four of the top 10 finishers. Daniel Njenga ended second, Tim Sprankle was fourth, Michael Kamami finished seventh, and Jerid Stoffel was ninth. On the women's side, Chrissy Moyer ended 20th for the Lancers with a time of 20:43. Only four women ran for Grace, leaving the team out of the scoring picture. Grace is ranked No. 12 in the NAIA and No. 3 by the NCCAA will compete at the Goshen Invitational Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Grace College women's soccer team remained winless all-time against St. Francis, losing 2-0 Saturday. Kely Sandels scored both goals for the Cougars, ranked No. 4 in the region. The Lancers were outshot 18-8 for the game. Hannah Loss had 13 saves for the Lancers in goal, but Grace coul not strike back against St. Francis. St. Francis improves to 7-4-1 overall and 4-0 in the MCC. Grace (4-7, 1-3 MCC) will host Taylor Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

MISSOURI BAPTIST BIBLE TOURNAMENT

Friday and Saturday in Springfield, Missouri

The Grace College volleyball team won three of four matches at the Missouri Baptist Bible Tournament Friday and Saturday to reach .500 after beginning the season 4-10. Grace defeated Williams Baptist Bible, lost to No. 22 Cornerstone and then defeated Trevecca and Mid-America. Kate Millen had 23 blocks in the tournament, becoming Grace's all-time leader in career blocks with 877, passing Megan Lash's 868. Grace 11-11, 1-1 MCC will host Huntington Tuesday in an MCC match-up at 7:30 p.m.

The Grace College women's tennis team lost its final regular season match of the year to undefeated Indiana Wesleyan 9-0 Saturday. Grace lost all six matches in straight sets and all three doubles matches handily. The Lancers (0-8, 0-6 MCC) will take part in the Mid-Central Conference Championshps beginning Thursday at Huntington.

Saturday in Franklin

The Manchester Spartans traveled to Franklin for a football game Saturday and fell to the Grizzlies 40-21. Franklin took and early 27-0 lead in the second quarter before quarterback Seth Hoppe connected with Darren Reed for Manchester's first touchdown. However, Manchester was unable to overcome the Grizzly lead and fell 40-21. Davis Barrett led the Spartans with 57 yards rushing, while Reed had 126 yards receiving. Manchester is 1-2.
