MARION -ÊGrace College's women's basketball team led Mid-Central Conference rival Indiana Wesleyan 26-13 at the half Wednesday as the Lancers went on to win 57-48.

Indiana Wesleyan shot just 6 of 29 (21 percent) from the field in the first half.

Grace, now tied for fourth in the MCC, is 8-12 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Indiana Wesleyan fell to 7-16 overall and 0-5 in the MCC.

Grace was led by a trio of double-figure scorers in Tracie Mezera with 21, Kari Helmuth with 13 and Danielle Mowery 11. Stephanie Jackson and Becky Neal scored 13 each for host Indiana Wesleyan.

Wednesday in North Manchester

The Manchester College men's basketball team defeated Anderson University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action Wednesday night at Manchester's Stauffer-Wolfe Arena 98-92 in overtime. This was Anderson's third consecutive loss decided by three points or less, while Manchester rebounded from two losses last week in HCAC action.

Anderson went into halftime with a 41-30 lead, shooting 51.6 from the floor. Near the conclusion of the game, the Spartans found themselves with a two-point lead after Manchester's Carson Harris made 1 of 2 free throws. Anderson's Jim Scarbeary missed a three-pointer with the clock winding down, but Josh Miller got the offensive board and scored as time expired forcing overtime.

In overtime, Manchester was a perfect 10 of 10 at the free throw line sealing the game. Chris Enyeart made four key free throws down the stretch to give Manchester the lead.

Anderson's Travis Daugherty led all scorers with 20 points, while Derek Ricketts added 19. Scarbeary, a Wawasee graduate, had 17 points for the Ravens as they fall to 8-7 overall and 0-4 in HCAC play.

Manchester's Carson Haris led the Spartans with 19 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Marc Patterson chipped in 18 points, while Jeremy Neely added 14 and Yul Lee had 13.

Manchester improves to 11-4 on the year and 3-2 in the HCAC. The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they travel to Hanover for a 3 p.m. game.
