MARION -ÊThe Grace College women's basketball team lost a battle for sixth place in the Mid-Central Conference with Indiana Wesleyan with a 63-43 loss Wednesday.

Grace trailed 32-20 at the half and never got closer than 10 points in the final 20 minutes. Indiana Wesleyan outscored the Lancers 31-23 in the second half to avenge losses to Grace earlier this year.

With the win, IWU takes sole posession of sixth place it the MCC. The Lancers are tied for seventh with Marian with three games left.

Eve Arthur led Grace in the scoring column with 14 points. She now has 998 career points and should become the seventh women's basketball player at Grace to top the 1,000-point plateua Saturday at home against Taylor. Danielle Mowery added eight points and nine rebounds in the loss. Grace (5-18, 2-9) will host Taylor Saturday at 1 p.m.

Wednesday in North Manchester

The Manchester College Women's basketball team hosted and defeated Thomas More 77-60 Wednesday. The win ups Manchester's overall season record to 7-13. Thomas More falls to 13-11.

The Spartans, who shot 57.9 percent from the field, were led in the scoring column by Sara Irish's 21 points. Pam Eckert added 19 points and was 5 of 6 from three-point land. Missy Hoppe missed a double double by one point as tallied 13 rebounds and nine points. The Spartans will host Mount St. Saturday at 5 p.m. for senior night.
