Saturday in North Manchester

WABASH COLLEGE 23, MANCHESTER COLLEGE 3

After disciplinary action taken earlier in the week resulted in the loss of seven starters for the Manchester College football team, Manchester los a hard-fought 23-3 contest to Wabash Saturday.

Mancchester got on the board first with a 30-yard field goal from Chris Bland in the middle of the first quarter. Wabash then went on to score 23 straight points in the game.

Steve McGaffney rushed for 65 yards while David Barrett chipped in 63 yards for the Spartans. Jason Neuenschwander had 37 yards receiving and 57 yards rushing.

Manchester is now 1-4 on the year on 0-3 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Spartans travel to Bluffton College with a 12:30 p.m. start.

The Manchester men's soccer team fell to Wilmington College 3-0 Saturday in North Manchester.

Scott Lower, Michael Miller and Bjorn Lidman scored for the Quakers.

Mancheser falls to 7-8 on the year and 2-1 in the conference. The Spartans travel to Anderson University Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. game.

The Manchester Spartans fell to Wilmington 5-0 Saturday in North Manchester.

Spartan goal keeper Bethany Hamilton picked up 24 saves in the contest.

Manchester travels to Anderson Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game.

The Manchester Spartans picked up their second win of the season in a quadrangular meet held at Saturday Wheaton College.

After falling to Wheaton in three sets and Judson in four sets, the Spartans fought back to defeat Beliot 15-8, 15-5, 15-3.

The Spartans are 2-22 on the year an 0-4 in the HCAC and host Bluffton Thursday at 7 p.m.

CROSS COUNTRY

Saturday in Kenosha Wisconsin

The Grace College cross country team ran in the largest meet of the season Saturday, defeating six NCAA Divison I schools and a team ranked in the NAIA National poll.

The men finished 13th out of 36 schools at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Cross Country Invitational, defeating Biola University of California, currently ranked 16th in the NAIA poll. The course is ranked a 4.0 (toughest ranking available), yet the Lancers ran their best combined time of the season.

James Kennedy was defeated for the first team this season, losing to Taylor's Kip Rop who finished fifth at last year's national meet. The third place runner ended 32 seconds behind Kennedy.

The women placed 28th out of 34 teams, running their best time of the season. Kristen Haines ended 142nd out of 396 runners with a time of 20:38.

Grace will compete at Olivet Nazarene Saturday in a strong meet. Nine of the top 30 teams will be running at this meet.
