NORTH MANCHESTER -ÊThe Manchester College Spartans hosted the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference wrestling tournament Saturday in North Manchester.
Wawasee graduate Jason Carr was the lone champion for the Spartans. He placed first in the165-pound weight class.
Mount St. Joseph's won the tournament with a 98.5 and was followed by Olivet with 94 and Manchester with 72.
Chris Malec, Darrell Carr (also of Wawasee) and Kyle Hardley each placed second in the competition.
Ryan Moore and Mark Rakoczy earned fourth-place finishes, while Micah Coblenz and Joe Medema finished in fifth place overall.

Grace competes Saturday in Allendale, Mich.
The Grace College track team traveled to Allendale, Mich. Saturday for an indoor meet.
In men's action, Michael Kamami ran the 800 in a time of 1:57.30 to place third in the race, while Brett Grehart ran the 400 meter dash in 52.02 to place fifth in the event. Sy Belohlavek ran a 4:37.95 mile to place sixth in that event.
Patricia Wood was the lone female finisher with a 32'8" triple jump. She placed fourth.

Saturday in North Manchester
Manchester College's women's basketball team hosted and fell to HCAC rival Mount St. Joseph Saturday, 88-70. The Spartans trailed 41-28, before being outscored 47-42 in the second half. Sarah Irish led Manchester in the scoring column with 17 points. Pam Eckert chipped in with 16 points, while Trish Miller and Missy Hoppe added 12 points each.
