NORTH MANCHESTER -ÊThe Manchester College men's basketball team posted an 82-61 win over Wilmington Saturday, as the Spartans prepared to defend their 1999 HCAC conference championship.
Jeremy Neely had a game-high 16 points for the Spartans. James Scott had 14 points, going 4 of 4 behind the arc as well as giving out six assists. Eric Swan and Yul Lee chipped in with 13 points each for the Spartans.
The Spartans, who impove to 9-4 on the season, also got seven assists and three steals. Manchester will be in action again Wednesday when the Spartans travel to Bluffton.

The Grace College women's basketball team went on a 17-0 run late in the second half, but it wasn't enough as Marian College survived for a 62-52 win Saturday. The Lancers fall to 0-2 in the Mid-Central Conference, while Marian improves to 1-1. Marian led 34-19 at the half and 59-35 with 69-35 to play. However, Grace then went on a 17-0 run to cut into the final deficit. Amy Doron led Grace with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Grace (3-11, 0-2 MCC) will play a non-conference game at Manchester Monday at 7 p.m.

Manchester competes in Midwest Classic
Saturday in Indianapolis
Manchester College's wrestling team competed in the Midwest Classic at the University of Indianapolis and finished in 15th place as a team. Individually, Jason Carr finished second in the 165-pound class. Carr lost 2-0 to Jason Woodlan of the University of Indianapolis in the championship round. Manchester's Todd Mullett finished seventh for the Spartans in the 149-pound class. Manchester will be in action again Jan. 14 and 15 at the National Duels held at Lycoming College.
