NORTH MANCHESTER - Manchester College's men's basketball team hosted and fell 68-67 to DePauw Saturday.
The loss drops the Spartans to 2-1 on the year.
Manchester led the entire game until DePauw's Mike Howland hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 67 with five seconds left. Fouled on the play by Carson Harris, Howland had an opportunity to complete the four-point play but committed a free throw violation.
On Manchester's next possession, Mark Patterson was called for an inbounding violation. DePauw then inbounded the ball and Joe Nixon was fouled by Harris.
Nixon hit 1 of 2 free throws, giving DePauw the win. Harris missed the game-winning layup after Nixon's two free throws.
Yul Lee led the Spartans with 17 points, while Patterson added 16 and Jeremy Neely and James Scott scored 11 each. Manchester will host Olivet College Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Leading 41-30 at halftime over Grace College Saturday, Spaulding University blew the game wide open and outscored the Lancers 60-38 in the second half. The Pelicans topped the Lancers 101-68. Timothy Gray led Spaulding in the scoring column with 21, while Josh Endler added 19. Freshman Matt Abernethy led the Lancers with 16, while Dan Scharlach tallied 13 and Joe Saunders added 10. Both teams took 65 shot attempts, with Grace hitting 24 shots (36.9 percent) and Spaulding hitting 42 shots (64.6 percent). Grace will be in action again Dec. 1-2 in the Carthage Tournament.
