NORTH MANCHESTER -ÊThe Manchester College women's basketball team fell to HCAC leader Franklin College Wednesday, 84-58. Manchester's Sara Irish led all scorers with 18 points. The senior also made five steals and dished out five assists in the loss that drops the Spartans to 7-15 overall and 2-9 in league play. Franklin improves to 15-8 overall and 10-1 in the conference. Senior Pam Eckert chipped in with 16 points and eight rebounds for Manchester. The Spartans will play at Anderson Saturday at 2 p.m.

Danielle Mowery led the Lancers in the scoring column with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Tracey Mantegna added 12 points and 17 rebounds in the loss. Eve Arthur chipped in with 11 points.

The Manchester College men's basketball team fell 55-48 at Franklin Wednesday, eliminating any chance of hosting the HCAC tournament. The win clinched the top seed in the HCAC for Franklin. Eric Swan scored a team-high 15 points for Manchester. Jeremy Neely added 13 points for the Spartans in the loss. Carson Harris added eight points, four assists and three steals for Manchester, who falls to 15-8 overall and 7-4 in league play. The Spartans host Anderson Saturday at 3 p.m. in the last regular season home game.
