PERU - Tours of the Cole Porter birthplace now are available each Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. in Peru, Ind.
The 1865 dwelling became the home of the Porters and thus Cole Porter's birthplace in 1891. Purchased by Ole Olson Memorial Theatre Inc. in 2004, volunteers have worked to restore it to its original 1891 splendor.
Anyone interested in different tour times may contact the Miami County Chamber of Commerce at 765-472-1923. The birthplace is at 17-19 S. Huntington St., at its intersection with East Third Street in Peru.
A $5 per person donation is appreciated to assist with costs of the ongoing restoration.
