I have a thought about how our government production of the collectable state quarters actual contributed to this recession. Not everyone in the USA has saved a set of 50, but others have saved several sets over the time they were issued. So say one set was saved for every person of the U.S. population, or approximately 300 million set, each set being worth $12.50. That equals $3.75 billon. That is setting around in people's piggy banks and cookie jars round the United States.

Taking this much money out of the U.S. economy is bound to create some stress over the last nine years that these quarters have been in circulation. If these would have been standard-issue quarters nobody would have saved them, and this money would be in circulation today. Just some more information the national debt grows 3.8 billion each day.
