AKRON – Cody David Floyd, 16, of 1386 S. CR 1275E, Akron, died unexpectedly May 19, 2013, in Burket. He was born July 7, 1996, in Warsaw, to Bruce and Theresa Hoff Floyd, who survive in Akron. He was a sophomore at Tippecanoe Valley High School, where he played linebacker on the football team wearing number 24. He also was a wrestler qualifying for regionals as a freshman as well as being state ranked. He enjoyed all outdoor sports. He took a lot of agricultural classes. He was an eight-year 4-H member in the Henry Newcomers Club. He showed beef cattle and swine. He also worked on community building projects in 4-H. Also surviving are maternal grandparents, George and Ruth Hoff, Akron; paternal grandmother, Shirley Denney, Akron; two sisters, Samantha Hoff and Christy Floyd, both of Akron; a nephew, Ian Conner, Akron; and paternal aunts, Anita (and spouse Gary) Webb, Chesapeake, Ohio, and Crystal Long, Goshen. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Bruce D. Floyd Sr. and Tom Denney, and an uncle, Rodney Huff. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tippecanoe Valley High School, 8345 S. Ind. 19, Akron, with Pastor Danny Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery. Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the school. Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W.
