A drug arrest in Elkhart County led to a large cocaine arrest in Kosciusko County Wednesday night.
Jose Villa, 19, of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, Lot 176, Warsaw, was arrested late Wednesday night and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:15 a.m. today for felony dealing cocaine. His bond was set at $20,000.During the investigation, police determined that Villa's citizenship is illegal, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have been contacted.
Around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, members of the Elkhart County Drug Task Force and ICE team members arrested a Hispanic man for allegedly dealing cocaine. He then gave officers information about his alleged supplier in Kosciusko County.
Around 11 p.m., officers from the Kosciusko and Elkhart county drug task forces went to a residence at Lot 176 in Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park, where Villa lives.
After Villa gave consent to search the residence, officers found 11 bags of cocaine, totaling about one pound.
This morning, Kosciusko County Sheriff Rocky Goshert said the cocaine has an approximate street value of at least $10,000. Goshert added that this was a "huge" arrest as drug task force officers from both counties believe Villa reportedly is major supplier to this area.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
