Cleaner Lakes

As a student at Harrison Elementary School, I’m concerned that the lakes in Warsaw are not clean enough.

First of all, cleaner lakes will make our community look better. It’s unacceptable to let people litter in our lakes. It’s terrible how I’ve seen people throw their trash in our lakes, and they don’t even care. I’ve also seen people leave their trash on the ground, and when the wind blows all the trash blows into the water. That’s not good.

Furthermore, it will help all the animals that drink water from our lakes stay healthy. There’s no reason there should be dead fish in the water because of dirty lakes. Some people like to go fishing. However, would they rather go fishing in clean lakes or lakes that are unhealthy and probably even have dead animals in them?  I’ve seen dead animals near some lakes and this is not healthy for our lakes.

Overall, cleaner lakes will keep people in our community healthy. I don’t think people in Warsaw want to go swimming in a dirty lake, especially when little kids are in the water. While they are swimming water might get in their mouth and they might swallow it. This could cause them to get sick. This can be from having a lot of trash or other pollution in the water.  In fact, I have seen a person swallow the water and then get sick.

The lakes in Warsaw should be cleaner because it will keep animals and people healthier. If you agree with me, then send a letter to the mayor or the city council. When you see people throwing trash in our lakes, tell them not to, but in a positive way. Thank you for helping me and for keeping our lakes clean.
