GOSHEN – Clayton Howard, 88, died early Feb. 15, 2013, in I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He was in failing health for two months. He was born Feb. 21, 1924, in West Liberty, Ky., to Sam and Ruey Reisner Howard. On April 5, 1943, in Magoffin County, Ky., he married Pauline Lykins, who died Nov. 13, 2004. A Goshen resident since 1969, he worked at Stoutco for 16 years and Goshen Parks and Recreation for three years. He was a member of Word of Truth Ministries, Milford. Surviving are a daughter, Deloris Jean (and spouse Michael) Kelley, Milford; three sons, Larry Dean (Brenda) Howard, Goshen, and Bob Ray and Danny Joe Howard, both of Elkhart; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nell (and spouse Dorman) Nipper, Ezel, Ky.; and a brother, Chester (and spouse Beatrice) Howard, Ezel. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Gay Elam; sons, Tommy, Jay, Clayton Jr. and Michael Howard; four sisters, Mattie Bailey, Josey Bailey, Moddie Stevens and Bonnie Helton; and a brother, Junior Howard. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, officiated by Pastor Michael Kelley of word of Truth Ministries. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
