CLAYPOOL – Town council approved the 2015 agreement with Multi-Township EMS Monday at a fee of $2,528.75. Members also approved the terminal services data agreement with Kosciusko County at $500, and voted to split a recently cashed-out certificate of deposit among town employees’ retirement accounts. They decided to leave the remaining $91.37 of the $3,091 CD in the water utility fund, since the CD had been rolled over a number of times and no one could recall where the money originally came from. Members later agreed to again table a request for a $50 wastewater credit from resident Bonnie Shepherd, until she is able to attend a meeting and explain the request in person. A hose left on outside for a few days caused her water usage to jump from 5,000 gallons to 20,000, council heard. Council President Niki Miller said a wastewater credit isn’t appropriate since the extra usage was due to negligence rather than a leak, though Clerk-Treasurer Connie Morgan observed that the water didn’t go into the sewer, similar to pool filling in the summer, which does receive a wastewater credit. Council later discussed, during comments from the public, whether they should establish policies on handling requests for credit and whether the people requesting them should be required to attend meetings.
