CLAYPOOL – A date of Aug. 14 to 16 for townwide garage sales was set during Monday’s Claypool Town Council meeting. Resident Dawn Vanneste volunteered to lead efforts to hold the sales after they were proposed at a previous meeting, and proposed the dates from among a couple of options. She also suggested townwide garage sales be held yearly on the same weekend so people always know when they are. Vanneste also presented a webpage she decided to design for the town after she said she found next to nothing on the Internet about Claypool when preparing to move there from Michigan. She said the site could put in one place information like business and church directories as well as civic data from town laws to policies on trash pickup. The page is currently hosted at http://hullapopper.wix.com/claypoolindiana but she said a more fitting domain name could be found. The site would cost close to $150 a year to host, she said, and they could evaluate after one year whether it’s gotten enough attention to be worth maintaining.
