ORDINANCE NO. 2014-08-01 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 11-03-05, AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS ON TOWN STREETS Whereas, the Town of Claypool enacted Ordinance No. 11-03-05, Establishing Speed Limits on Town Street on the 21st day of March, 2011; and Whereas, the Town of Claypool wishes to amend said Ordinance to provide a confirmed speed limit for all town streets; and Whereas, the Town of Claypool has determined that it is prudent to reduce the maximum speed limits on town streets as provided in I.C. 9-21-5-6; and Whereas, the Town of Claypool has determined that the maximum speed limit permitted is greater than reasonable and safe under the conditions found to exist on the town streets. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CLAYPOOL, INDIANA: Section 1. That the maximum speed limit on all town streets located within the town limits of the Town of Claypool, including Section Street, Clay Street, Calhoun Street, Railroad Street, Noah Street, Lindsay Street, Rebecca Street, Church Street, Graceland Avenue, Harrison Street, Wells Street, Hickory Street, North Street, Walnut Street, and Main Street, shall be twenty five (25) miles per hour. Section 2. That is person shall drive a vehicle on town streets in excess of the maximum speed established. Section 3. That the Town shall secure suitable and adequate signage with which to post such speed limit in appropriate locations as it may determine or as required by law. Section 4. That Ordinance No. 11-03-05 shall, to the extent not herein amended, in all other particulars remain in full force and effect.
