Claypool Man Faces Child Molesting Charge

A Claypool man is facing a child molesting charge.

Thomas J. Gibson, 70, of 7311 S. CR 425W, Claypool, faces one charge of child molesting, a Level 1 felony.

On Nov. 29, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a child molesting complaint that occurred Nov. 26, according to court documents. Deputies spoke to the victim, who stated Gibson touched her inappropriately.

On Dec. 3, Safe Harbon Advocacy Center completed a forensic interview with the victim, who stated Gibson touched her in a way she didn’t like.

According to court documents, deputies learned the victim had been at Gibson’s home for a Thanksgiving gathering. The victim told her dad Gibson had inappropriately touched her, on the outside and inside of her clothing, while in the playroom.  

Deputies spoke with the victim’s mother, who stated on Nov. 29, Gibson admitted to the family the victim’s allegations were true. According to court documents, Gibson began to cry, apologized and said he didn’t know why it happened.

Gibson was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:42 p.m. Thursday  and his  bond is $50,250.
