Claypool Man Arrested On Battery ChargeA Claypool man was arrested Monday after allegedly beating and strangling a woman.
Joshua Forrest Hamman, 39, of 4416 W. CR 525S, Claypool, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:49 p.m. Monday for domestic battery with moderate bodily injury. His preliminary bond was set at $6,000.
Court documents filed May 7 list the charges against Hamman as domestic battery with moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; strangulation, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
On April 20, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Justin Smith responded to a domestic abuse complaint at a Kosciusko County address, redacted in court documents. When Smith talked to the victim, she gave him Hamman’s Claypool address.
The victim said that as a result of her cheating on Hamman, he beat her all the time. She said while at his residence April 20, he hit her on the face and choked her. Smith saw and photographed bruises on the victim’s face and neck. She said that while Hamman was choking her, she thought it was all over.
Hamman told Smith he knew nothing about the bruises on the victim’s face and neck. He said the victim was an alcoholic and probably did it falling down.
