Claypool Man Arrested for Kicking Down Door

Posted
MENTONE – A Claypool man was arrested early today after allegedly kicking in the door of a Mentone home, which he claimed was out of desperation because he was being chased by a group trying to kill him.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputy Shawn Castillo was dispatched around 2:15 a.m. today to a home at 109 N. Morgan St. after the home’s owner called 911 saying a man was kicking in his front door.

Castillo arrived to find 23-year-old Anthony Joseph Fulton, of 7257 W. Nebraska St., Claypool, laying on the floor of the home’s entryway, a kicked-in door behind him. According to Castillo’s incident report, Fulton said he had no weapons and did not want any trouble, but said he was being chased by eight people from Diamond Lake.

Fulton told Castillo he had ran to Mentone trying to avoid the group, which he claimed was trying to kill him, the report said. Fulton said he ran to the home, kicked in the door and laid down.

The home’s owner- 62-year-old Jaime Montelongo – told Castillo he’d been asleep when he heard somebody kicking at the front door. Montelongo said he woke to find Fulton laying on the floor with the door kicked in.

Medics checked out Fulton before he was transferred to Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of residential entry. He’s being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond.

Castillo’s report did not say if Fulton’s claims of being chased by a mob were investigated by police.
