CLAYPOOL – The Claypool Town Council held a public hearing Tuesday following a water utility appraisal completed in November by Indiana American Water.
The town's water utility infrastructure was appraised at $1.5 million.
Indiana American Water Company Inc. (IAWC) hopes to acquire the town's system and become the water utility provider for Claypool. Justin Schneider, community affairs director of IAWC, attended the meeting to provide information and answer questions.
Schneider said the IAWC already serves Warsaw and Wabash, and their rates are set by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
In new business, the Council approved the 2022 Lutheran EMS agreement and a new $1,300-per-month contract with Chicago-based accounting and consulting firm Baker Tilly.
Benny Stage Jr. remains Council president for 2022.
Town Marshal Ben Sanders reported 158 calls for service and 111 reserve hours this month. In 2021, the Claypool Police Department responded to 1,848 calls for service.
