Claypool Fire Damages Surrounding HomesCLAYPOOL – Burket Fire Department responded Friday to a 5:49 a.m. call for a house fire at 9719 S. CR 750W, Claypool, along the southeast side of Beaver Dam Lake.
Burket Fire Department Chief Kevin McSherry said the house, owned by Terry Runyon, had been on fire for some time before the fire department got called in because the house was collapsing when they arrived.
While the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, the house was a total loss and damaged the three surrounding houses due to the heat, as they had melted vinal siding, McSherry said.
There were no injuries due to the fire and no one was home in the house that caught fire. McSherry said the neighbor that sustained the most damage was the one that called for assistance.
The Burket Fire Department was assisted by the Henry Township Fire Department from Akron and the Silver Lake Fire Department. The Mentone Fire Department brought a tanker of water.
