Claypool will hold its first town festival of the decade on Sept. 8. Registration for the kids parade (up to age 18) begins at 10 a.m. in the Claypool United Methodist Church parking lot. The parade departs at 11 a.m. and will proceed down Calhoun and Main streets. The theme for the parade is “bridging generations past, present, future.” Awards will be given at 1 p.m. for decorated bikes, wagons and walking units. There will be a pie-eating contest at 2 p.m. sponsored by Red’s Sweets. The entry fee is $5 and the winner receives $100. Other activities and entertainment include a baby crawl, dunk tank, face painting, water balloon toss and free popcorn from the Claypool Lions Club. There will also be a peanut spit, frozen T-shirt contest, a toy walk and karaoke. Red’s Sweets will be sponsoring live music in the afternoon and a family movie at dusk.
