CLAYPOOL - Claypool Town Council held a special meeting Monday night to continue discussion of its current railroad situation.
Council President Don Miller and council member David Dills met with the town's attorney, Michael W. Reed, to discuss what the town and Norfolk Southern Corp. have agreed to so far.
While the two parties have reached a consensus on most of the issues, the wording was worked on for a provision that involved what is known in Claypool as Harrison Street Extended.
Claypool will lease some land from Norfolk Southern for $1 a year and be in charge of maintaining it.
Reed told Miller and Dills that he will send Norfolk Southern another letter stating some concessions the town would like the railroad to make, and that he didn't see this issue being resolved within the next couple of months.
"It's not going to be over quick unless we let it get over quick," said Reed concerning Norfolk Southern's willingness to agree to the town's requests.
The board's next meeting will be Dec. 8 at the town building on Graceland Avenue.
