Claypool Council Approves Additional AppropriationsCLAYPOOL – At Tuesday night's meeting, the Claypool Town Council approved additional appropriations and service contracts and welcomed a new reserve officer for the police department.
In a 2-0 vote, with Councilwoman Liz Heiman absent, the Council approved ordinance 2021-11-1 for $65,000 in additional appropriations for funds including cemetery and local roads and streets.
Also approved were the 2022 Terminal Services Data Contract, an interlocal agreement between Claypool and Kosciusko County with an annual fee of $500, and a two-year waste management contract that will end Dec. 31, 2023. The new rate increases 50 cents to $12.92.
Town Marshal Ben Sanders reported 169 calls for service and 76 reserve hours in October. The Council approved a $200 reserve academy fee for the town's new reserve deputy, Matthew Wynn.
Fire Chief Rick Hurley has been appointed as the Claypool Police Department chaplain. He will serve as a volunteer on an on-call basis, said Sanders, to assist the department with death notifications, suicide preventions and other counseling.
