Class Act Dance Troupe, a non-profit performing company affiliated with Debra Collier's School of Dance, recently competed in the Headliners regional competition in Indianapolis.
The troupe received numerous awards including an overall high score award for the petite troupe piece "Rain or Shine".
Troupe members were honored to receive three special awards presented to select pieces determined by the judges' individual opinions.
Junior troupe members received an award for "intensity of performance" for their lyrical "Ordinary Day". Senior troupe members also received awards from two judges for the "originality" and "artistic presentation" for the ballet piece "Silly Symphony".
The Headliners Competition offers the exclusive opportunity for dancers to qualify to represent the USA at two world events as part of the United States Dance Teams. Twelve CADT members, Cassie Dishman, Desiree Lantz, Hannah Crane, Sarah Mills, Henry Robison, Mikayla Wireman, MaKayla Hunter, Grace Eib, Lauren Smith, Kendall Mason, Samantha Nichols and Alexis Laureano, received nominations.
Class Act Dance Troupe provides students with additional opportunities to use their dance training and develop their abilities through the creative outlets of performance events and community involvement, while fostering self-esteem, confidence and a sense of achievement.
