You had stated in a previous letter that I need to attend a meeting in order to see how they run things. My point was I have been to meetings due to some very disturbing issues in my district. I placed a phone call to my district commissioner to ask what could be done and the response was a little shocking. So shocking when I made Mayor Ernie Wiggins aware of what was said, he directed me to a commissioners meeting in order to address the entire board.
Once the information was a headline on the front page of the Times-Union, the citizens of Kosciusko County were as equally upset. Think back and you may recall what I am speaking of. This was a serious unrelated issue, however, many citizens had written in stating they would have never voted this particular person into office had this issue been addressed before the primary.
I would not base my decision of my thoughts on just one disagreement, such as not calling a county emergency, it just added to my frustration.
Also, I want to clarify I personally know an individual who was penalized for being late for work that day, unfortunately, jobs are not a dime a dozen. You have to work even if that means working for a business that simply does not care about its employees.
Also, I want to clarify I am not speaking against the entire board. I am just addressing the fact that those who represent the citizens not only need sound mind on money-making decisions, a good set of ethics is equally as important.
Just because you may not find a trait such as compassion important, many of us do. Therefore, that is why people need to be more involved and - key words - go to meetings and ask what is important to you.
All I know is I want a well-rounded individual running my county.
So in closing, Gary, like I already told you, I would hold your hand if it meant keeping you safe in a potentially dangerous situation. One last thing, for extra clarification, I normally ignore my safety, I was more concerned of the safety of others that day.
