Melody Barker of Barker Archives attended the Warsaw Board of Works meeting Friday to discuss a proposal to scan and store official city documents.

Melody owns the company with her husband, DeWayne Barker.

Costs to scan 15 "minute" books with removable pages would cost 15-cents per scanned image page or $22 per book.

Each meeting date would be indexed.

Older, bound archival books, in very fragile condition, would be photographed at a cost of 96 cents each page. Or the pages could be removed and scanned at the 15 cent per page cost. The older books' images would be transferred to CDs. The city would have to pay to rebind the books.

Member Charlie Smith asked that total costs be given for each alternative and the item was tabled.

The board approved a $22,500 contract with the William Morris Agency Inc. for an appearance by Terri Clark for the July 23 country concert. Clark's show begins at 7:30 p.m. and will last 75 minutes. Also approved was a $1,500 contract with Kevin Roberts Entertainment for the country concert agent fees.

Activity director Janelle Wilson said an additional $5,000 donation from the Biomet Foundation helped bring Clark to the Friday night concert in the Central Park series. The performances are free and open to the public.

The board approved a grant agreement with the Kosciusko 21st Century Foundation in the amount of $50,000 for phase two of the beyer Farm Trail of the Lake City Greenway project.

Clerk Elaine Call noted there was no budget attached as described in the agreement.

The grant requires matching funds, an topic city planner Jeff Noffsinger said he planned to discuss at the city council meeting.

The grant's expiration date is March 2005.

The board also:
