Warsaw City Planner Jeff Noffsinger requested permission Friday from the Board of Public Works and Safety to hire a college intern in the fall.
An Indiana University student, Isaiah Knouff, asked Noffsinger about the possibility for an internship to fulfill his requirement for graduation. The internship will be for 16 weeks for $8 an hour or less.
Noffsinger said Mayor Ernie Wiggins is comfortable with the idea.
The board approved the request.

Plaza Drive behind Kimm Food Mart on Ind. 15N is done, according to Superintendent of Public Works Lacy Francis. The road needed to be brought up to city standards.
"All the work that needed to be done is completed," said Francis.
The road is now accepted into city maintenance.
Parks Superintendent Jon Garber brought to the board's attention a request from an individual who needs to complete community service. Eric Keller, 18, was referred by DeKalb County. The request was approved.
A pay rate adjustment for Lindsay Bruick, a lifeguard for the Parks Department, was approved. Bruick had obtained her Water Safety Instructor certificate before she was hired and her pay rate should be $6.94 an hour instead of $6.44 an hour.
Two new hires were approved. Michael Allen Foster is the new dispatcher for the police department and Deborah Wentzel is the new administrative assistant to the city planner.
