The City of Warsaw is applying for a construction grant funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Blight Clearance Program, administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA). The need for the construction grant is to help fund the demolition of blighted buildings located on three parcels in the 1600 block of East Winona Avenue in Warsaw, Indiana. The project site is owned by Fellowship Missions, Inc. and will be a sub-recipient with the City of Warsaw serving as the lead applicant. The City of Warsaw will hold its second public hearing on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 7 PM at 102 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, IN to provide residents an opportunity to hear an update on the project development and the grant application.
The City is seeking to apply for $500,000 in CDBG funds for the Blight Clearance Program. Fellowship Missions is committing at least 10% or $55,000 as the local match, with an estimated project cost of $550,000. If awarded, approximately 41.75% of the grant award ($208,750) will be used to benefit low-to-moderate-income individuals on an area-wide basis.
