City May Change Sign Ordinance

Posted

Warsaw Plan Commission approved a recommendation suggesting city council consider a change to the sign ordinance.

The amendment would prohibit people from making permanent signs from signs designed for temporary uses. The problem, according to city planner Pat Hudson, is that temporary signs are not designed aesthetically for permanent display. Some of the signs used in that fashion look dilapidated.

Often sign owners wanting to make the transformation remove the wheels from a portable marquee and wrap the bottom portion in some type of skirting, Hudson said.

Council meets next Monday, but likely won't consider the recommendation until next month.
