Warsaw Traffic Safety Commission Wednesday discussed establishing a golf cart ordinance for Warsaw.
Local municipalities are allowed to establish local ordinances allowing the use of golf carts in each community.
After much discussion concerning the safe operation and various regulations of golf carts within the city, members requested to review existing ordinances in surrounding communities and the new state law.The commission will review the matter at its next meeting when Warsaw Police Department Lt. Kip Shuter will provide requested information.
In other business, Greg Schroeder, Warsaw Community Schools, requested a stop sign be placed by the athletic department near Dugout Drive behind the high school.
The commission also will make sure traffic control signs by Warsaw Community High School meet the city's ordinance and are posted where needed.
Shuter and Schroeder will verify street names of those by WCHS and Edgewood Middle School to provide them to the Warsaw Building and Planning Department for its records.
Also during the meeting, Steve Petro requested that no parking be established on Jalynn Street.
Jalynn Street will be expanded in the future with a proposed senior development. Currently trucks are parking at the end of Jalynn Street. Shuter will draft an ordinance and will have the commission review it when the expanded street is closer to being developed.
The commission will meet again Sept. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the WPD building.
