City Approves Transfer For Husky Trail Engineering

Warsaw City Council approved transferring funds to allow for engineering for the Husky Trial road improvement project Monday night.
Councilman Jeff Grose made the motion seconded by councilwoman Cindy Dobbins to transfer $56,000 from the cumulative capital development land fund to the cumulative capital development professional services fund.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer said the funds were allocated during the city’s budget process in anticipation of the project.
Jeremy Skinner, city planner, said the city is excited about the Husky Trail project.
It is a three-year project with this year being the engineering phase, 2014 right of way acquisition, and construction will begin in 2015.
There will be $250,000 of the project that will come out of the rainy day fund then will go back in as the city is reimbursed.
A & Z Engineering, Fort Wayne, is the project contractor.
Michiana Council On Area Government has guided the city to make sure it makes its timeline, Thallemer said.
Grose thanked Skinner for his work on the project and said it is moving in the right direction.
“This is a very aggressive timeline so the sooner we get going on it the better we are,” Skinner said.
