Warsaw City Council approved a resolution to declare Danco Anodizing as an economic revitalization area during Monday's meeting.
Danco Anodizing is at 2450 Deelyn Drive, Warsaw.
The council previously approved a resolution to declare the area as a revitalization area. Monday's resolution will allow the company to apply for tax abatements on real and personal property. The request was from Riepen Limited Partnership doing business as Danco Anodizing.
The industrial subdivision was annexed in after the 1997 ERA resolution, requiring Warsaw to declare the area as an economic revitalization area, according to City Planner Jeremy Skinner.
Danco Anodizing will expand their existing facility by 16,000 square feet. Danco has estimated the value of the proposed project will be $1.2 million, and create an additional 14 jobs with total estimated salaries to be approximately $434,000.
The $140 million tax abatement will be used to purchase manufacturing equipment the company will purchase during the expansion of the facilities.
Also during the meeting, Warsaw resident Roger Conley spoke to the council about rising gas prices. Conley discussed the issue with the council at a previous meeting.
"We need to start the ball rolling and I encourage you as a council to consider the people who have fought for this community and be man enough to not stand for rising gas prices," Conley said.
Mayor Ernie Wiggins thanked Conley for his comments, but said the council does not have the power to change gas prices in Warsaw.
The council also
n Approved a July activity report from the Warsaw Fire Department with 130 responses.
n Approved an ordinance from the cemetery permanent fund transferring $7,000 from the land fund to improvements other than building to allow for more lots to be created at the Oakwood Cemetery.
n Tabled an ordinance from the cumulative fire fund transferring $117,000 into debt service for a lease payment on the Warsaw Fire Department truck.
