Midas Auto Service, Warsaw, is seeking Christmas items to send to deployed troops.
Midas has been sending care packages to soldiers since April.
Rhonda Elliott, manager of Midas Auto Service, said the care packages are a way to remind the troops they are thought of during the holidays."The soldiers are defending our country, and they are away from their families, and the care packages are a way to remind them they are cared about and remembered," Elliott said.
Local soldiers' names and addresses for the packages have been given to Midas by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings.
The business is requesting people from the community drop off Christmas cards signed with their names and addresses.
Midas also plans to send a Christmas stocking for each soldier, and is requesting the community donate stocking-stuffer items. Suggested items include candy canes, electronic games and playing cards.
Small Christmas trees also will be collected for the soldiers.
Midas is seeking people who will pay for the shipping cost to mail the packages. The cost to ship a care package is $8.95, and the business is shipping an average of 12 packages per month.
Items or monetary donations may be dropped off during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If the hours conflict with a person's schedule, call Elliott at 574-269-4545 to make other arrangements.
The deadline to collect the items will be Nov. 10 to assure the soldiers receive the items in time for Christmas.
Midas Auto Service is at 3555 Commerce Drive.
People who have a name or address of a family member or a friend who is currently deployed and would like to add that person to the list of care package recipients may call Elliott or stop by Midas.
