'Christmas In July' Program Underway With Donations

Posted

Kosciusko Community Hospital recently donated school supplies to Combined Community Services' "Christmas in July" program. KCH's booster team, chaired by Joseph Jarboe, continuously coordinates special events for employees that support various programs in the community. This is the team's fourth year to support Christmas in July.

The local Fraternal Order of Police recently donated $3,000 toward the program and KCH was the first to drop off supplies this year.

Christmas in July targets donations of school supplies or monetary donations to provide school supplies to children in the community. Book bags especially are needed this year. Last year, more than 600 students began the school year with new supplies, thanks to the generosity of the FOP and the community. Ami Pitt voluntarily coordinates the program each year for CCS.

In addition to school supplies, the program also offers discounted gym uniforms for WCS students through a special agreement with Reneker's of Warsaw. Homeschoolers also are eligible for discounts in the form of assistance with entry fees for special programs. For more information on assistance for homeschoolers, call Pitt at 574-269-2088, Ext. 2.

The giveaway will begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 10 at CCS, 110 E. Prairie St., Warsaw. Any Kosciusko County student who does not have a local school supply giveaway in their town may receive supplies. For more information, call Peggi Lisenbee-Wright, director of client assistance with CCS, at 574-269-6019, Ext. 22.
