Christmas Gala Sunday

Posted
Celebrate the joy of the season Sunday at the second annual Christmas Gala.

Featuring all of the departments of the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center, the show starts at 2:30 p.m. at the PAC. Tickets are $3 per person.

Scott Avery, choir director, said the audiovisual department will present a couple of videos. The band has several ensembles scheduled to perform, and the theater department will have three skits. Two choirs will sing, including the intermediate and select, separately and together.

"There's just a wide variety," said Avery.

The variety Christmas show starts off with a traditional arrangement of "Kings" by the percussion ensemble. After a video titled "Christmas in Warsaw," the flute choir will perform "The Holly and the Ivy/Carol of the Bells".

Members of Select Theater then will perform "O Christmas Tree", followed by select chorale's "Jingle Jingle" and "Winter's Night".

"Christmas in Warsaw Part II" will be shown, followed by a performance by the Hip Hop Dance Team. The intermediate choir then will sing "A Quartet of Carols".

After Select Theater's "A Partridge and an Achoo", the jazz band will perform "The Herald Angel Swing" and "Go Tell It On the Mountain".

The Festival Choir and guests will perform "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen", followed by Select Theater's "Window Shopping".

The sax ensemble will perform "Frosty the Snow Man", followed by the Festival Choir's "Hallelujah Chorus".

The show is enjoyable for the whole family, Avery said, and lasts only about 70 minutes.

"They'll get a lot of bang for their buck. It'll flow really quickly from one thing to the next," said Avery.

Anyone who has never seen any of the departments perform before will get a great sample of their work, he said.

Before the show, while people are purchasing tickets, there will be some music in the lobby. At the end of the show, Santa Claus is expected to stop by.

Avery said, "It's a festive afternoon."
