Christmas Eve Crash Sends 1 To HospitalShortly before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, emergency personnel responded to a collision at the intersection of Packerton Road and CR 400S.
Police determined that a red 2007 Dodge Journey, driven by Nicole Smith, 36, Pierceton, had been traveling north on?Packerton Road and approaching CR 400S. Smith failed to stop at the intersection and continued across the roadway. After the vehicle struck a stop sign, the Journey went down an embankment and hit a tree, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis.
Heavy fog was present during the time of the crash.
Firefighters extricated Smith from the vehicle, and a child in the back seat was not injured.
Smith was taken by ambulance to a Fort Wayne hospital for head pain.
The Winona Lake Police Department, Pierceton Police Department, Indiana DNR, KCSO, Lutheran EMS, Claypool Fire Department and Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory responded to the scene.
