The YMCA wants to make sure that kids have a safe place to go while they are out of school over Christmas break.
School Break Camp will keep kids kindergarten through sixth grade entertained, active and learning from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
From Dec. 19-23, 26-30, and Jan. 2, activities include daily group games, swimming and other events each day, including dodgeball, movies, climbing wall, a self-defense program, t-ball, bingo, Zumba, crafts and a science experiment.
On Dec. 20, kids will go roller skating; on Dec. 21, they will go Christmas caroling at the nursing home; and Dec. 23 they will take a trip to the YMCA’s Racquet Center for some racquet sports.
After Christmas, on Dec. 27, School Break Camp will learn from a program given by the Recycling Center, and on Dec. 28, they will get to serve their community by helping at the soup kitchen.
On Dec. 29, School Break Camp will be visited by the Warsaw Community High School’s women’s soccer team for a soccer clinic, and on Dec. 30 the kids will go bowling.
Children should bring a lunch, swimsuit, towel and tennis shoes every day. Registration forms are available for children who are not already registered as part of the Kids’ Club program. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.
The YMCA will be open Dec. 22 and 27 for free to youth and their families. The community is welcome to come in and enjoy the pool as a family from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 3-8:30 p.m. The climbing wall also will be open from 7-9 p.m.
There also will be two weeks of group exercise, cycling and water aerobics classes free to everyone who brings in a canned good, Dec. 19-30.
