Christine “Christy” Lyn Metzger, of Silver Lake, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday morning, April 30, 2026, in the care of Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis at the age of 55. Christy will be forever loved by her husband, family and friends. Her fun-loving spirit and positive outlook left a mark on all who came to know her. Her family treasures their everyday experiences with her, because she always knew how to brighten their day. You couldn’t help but smile when she sang goofy songs or made silly dance moves. It is difficult to summarize such a unique and wonderful woman, and we are just honored to have shared our lives with her. Her legacy lives on in our hearts and warm beach breezes.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Christy was born on Sept. 1, 1970, in Warsaw. One of three children, born to Beverly Ann Newby Hay and Max Edward Hay. She was a 1989 graduate of Warsaw High School and a few years later she was a lovely bride. Marrying her best friend and love of her life, Daniel “Dan” Jacob Metzger, on Sept. 21, 1991. While they would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this year, the life they built overflowed with love, laughter, and cherished memories — from the joy of raising their children to the blessings of becoming grandparents. Above all, Christy was a dedicated family woman who believed her most important role was simply being ‘Mom’ and ‘CiCi’. She treasured her time with loved ones and found deep joy in worshipping at Warsaw Community Church.
Christy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dan Metzger, Silver Lake; son, Jacob (Linda) Metzger, Silver Lake; and her daughters, Mikayla Metzger, Indianapolis; Krista (Sebastian) Medina, Silver Lake. Also surviving are her seven beloved grandchildren: Maxwell, Magnolia, Meredith, Mackenzie, Miles, Oliver and Elijah; as well as her mother, Beverly Ann Hay, Warsaw; brother, Bob Hay, Warsaw; and her sister, Lisa (Bob) Petro, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her father, Max Hay.
