Two medleys in the Warsaw Community High School Choral Department’s “Spring Choral Extravaganza” will feature choreography staged by Dannielle Robertson. Robertson, who is back for her fifth year with the May concert celebration, has had a career in theater, television and film. She also has appeared several times on the Wagon Wheel Theatre stage. The medleys she’s staged this year for the choral extravaganza include “Aladdin” by the Intermediate and Beginning choirs, and “Les Miserables” by the Select Chorale. The choral concert is scheduled for May 15 at 8 p.m. in the WCHS Performing Arts Center. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted. It features all four choirs, including Beginning Men, Beginning Women, Intermediate choir and Select Chorale. All groups will sing independently and combined. Selections are wide ranging, from traditional choral pieces to arrangements of modern musical theater, jazz and novelty numbers. Each group will have a staged number. The groups are under the direction of Scott Avery, with Deb Bishop serving as accompanist for the choirs. Band teacher Mickey Ratliff also will assist on drums. The set list starts with “Let There Be Music” by the combined Beginning Choirs. The Beginning Men then will sing “Food Glorious Food,” “Lonesome Road” and “Get Me to the Church on Time.” Beginning Women then take over with “Forget About the Boy,” “Chapel of Love” and “Farewell My Friend.” The Intermediate Choir start with “St. Louis Blues,” then “Sing a Tapestry” before finishing with “Farmer Tan.” The Festival Choir will sing “Set Me As a Seal” before the Select Chorale go into “Pop Goes the Weasel.” Select Chorale will continue with “At Last” and “Singin’ in the Rain.” Before intermission, seniors will conclude the first half with “Here Comes the Sun.” After intermission, the Intermediate and Beginning Choirs will perform “Aladdin,” followed by Select Chorale’s medley of songs from “Les Miserables.” The show stops with the Combined Choirs belting out “And Wherever You Go.” Approximately 110 choir students will be taking the stage for the choral extravaganza.
