Eric Chizum has been thinking about starting his own personal assistant job and he’s recently made that a reality. Chizum, a Chapman Lake resident, began formulating the idea when talking with neighbors. “A lot of my neighbors wish that there was a service that could get their house ready for the weekend,” said Chizum. Combining that with shuttle service to airports and grocery delivery service, Chizum and his My P.A. business have taken off. There currently are three people involved with Chizum. In June, he quit his job to focus on his business full-time. Chizum also specializes in lawn maintenance, watching after homes during severe winter weather and house cleaning. Chizum said one service that seniors might find helpful is salt delivery for homes’ water softener systems. For airport shuttle service, Chizum said he uses a Chrysler Aspen that includes leather seating and an entertainment system. For grocery delivery, Chizum has a grocery truck that can hold frozen goods and even has a section to keep dry cleaning during transport. Chizum said his services are available six days a week, and with bigger requests he likes to have 24 hours in lead time.Chizum said he is looking at gas prices and hopes not to have to raise prices because of it. He believes that the more business he brings in, it will allow him to lower his delivery prices, which would offset any rise in gas prices.
