NAPPANEE – The child pulled from a pond near Nappanee Saturday afternoon died from his injuries.
Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Kosciusko County Central Dispatch received a report of an unresponsive child being pulled from a pond near the 11000 block of North CR 1000W near Nappanee and that CPR was being performed.
The child – whose name or age is not being released by police at this time – was taken to Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
On Monday, Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officers reported that the child succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead. The official cause of death is pending autopsy results.
The incident is under investigation by DNR law enforcement.
