A Columbia City man was arrested in Kosciusko County Tuesday and charged with one count of child molesting after the man’s wife allegedly received an electronic message stating the man had sexually abused a minor.
According to an affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, the man’s wife recieved a Facebook message Sept. 16 stating that her husband, Gregory Allen Moening, 31, Columbia City, had sexually abused a minor two years ago.
A Child Protective Services investigator spoke with the potential victim, who said in May or June 2012, she was visiting a friend in Kosciusko County when Moening made more than one inappropriate remark to her and later touched and kissed her inappropriately, attempting to perform a sexual act. The victim told police she asked Moening to stop, at which point he did.
Police later spoke with Moening, who said the alleged victim came to his residence and had a device containing explicit photos and he told the girl to leave his residence if she was going to look at the material. He told police he believes the girl was mad at him for asking her to leave.
Moening was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail and charged with one count of child molesting. He was held on a $5,000 bond.
